Our client entered the market with such a compelling sales story that they experienced exponential growth, acquiring some 200,000 customers globally in approximately 9 months.
The internally developed billing and customer management system could not be expanded to support this massive growth, and was at risk of collapsing entirely with the predicted increase of customer numbers.
The business challenge was to rapidly provide support for pre-paid billing of hundreds of thousands of customers making millions of calls per month. Fraud was a significant issue in certain markets, so a means of preventing crippling charge-backs was critical to the continued growth of the business.
Trysoft Technologies used dataDirector to deliver a flexible and scalable customised billing solution for our client that would support their continued growth.
dataDirector is integrated to the clients' customer management system and manages account balances in real-time to support pre-paid accounting. Each call request is costed for the particular destination, and the account balance is used to determine the maximum permitted duration for the call.
dataDirector is integrated to our client's managed soft switch and performs invoice mediation between our client and the network carrier, so that our customer's carrier invoices can be reconciled against the records of the softswitch. This approach highlighted a number of very long duration mobile phone calls (3 days in one case!) where the carrier failed to detect the call hang-up from an international network partner. The mediation report provided a quick means of resolving these technical issues and obviating tens of thousands of dollars in erroneous charges.
Fraud Management: All credit card top-ups are pre-processed using the AuthentifyMe technology to eliminate probable fraudulent transactions. AuthentifyMe allows the customer to set rules to simply discard "obviously" fraudulent transactions, and "park" transactions that are suspicious, but could be legitimate. The parked transactions are subject to manual enquiries and then approved or discarded. This technique maximises revenue whist providing much improved levels of fraud protection.
