Trysoft was selected to design and implement a solution for the display and charging of the New South Wales Greenhouse Gas Abatement levy to our client's retail customers.
The NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme (GGAS) commenced on 1st January 2003 and is one of the first mandatory greenhouse gas emissions trading schemes in the world.
The NGAS establishes annual state-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets, and then requires individual electricity retailers and certain other parties who buy or sell electricity in NSW to meet mandatory benchmarks based on the size of their share of the electricity market.
Our client, like other electricity providers, required enhancements to their existing billing and quoting systems in order to pass these additional costs of compliance through to their customers.
Trysoft Technologies for six consecutive years, provided contracted IT services to this client. Under the contract we provided applications development, maintenance and support and customised niche software development services such as complex applications for gas and electricity business to business reconciliation systems, complex billing systems and customer management systems.
In response to the introduction of the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Charge (GGAC) our team of energy experts made enhancements to our client's existing billing and quoting systems to enable their staff to:
The quotation and billing of the GGAC is now transparent to our client's customers. The existing billing system generates these charges with no costly manual intervention required from staff. The system has also been developed in such a way that it can easily provide for other similar levies if they were to be introduced in other States.
