Our customer makes extensive use of an online Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Salesforce.com) for fulfilment workflows in addition to the usual sales processes in both the Middle East and Australasian markets.
Usage data for the satellite broadband service is not available to the Salesforce system and "excess data usage" was not billed at all. The very complex billing rules based upon information stored in Salesforce were processed manually in order to generate invoices in both AUD and USD. The complex requirements for government subsidies (HiBIS and BfH) were also maintained in external Excel spreadsheets and processed by hand.
Trysoft Technologies used dataDirector to develop a customised billing solution that would support our customer's continued dramatic growth.
On a daily basis, dataDirector synchronises all customer and contract data with Salesforce.com using a Web Services interface. New customers and new sales are recognised and invoices are raised appropriately. Usage information is collected from the satellite base stations and that information is used in generating ongoing monthly invoices.
dataDirector provides a self-service portal where customers can inspect their usage, view their transaction history (invoices, payments, credits and debits), and set usage quota reminders in order to manage their data downloads.
In addition to producing reports on the accounts that qualify for government subsidies, dataDirector actually produces an XML formatted HiBIS application for direct upload to the government web site.
Our customer is now able to stem a loss of revenue through un-measured use of satellite data download, and by so doing, better manage their IP network.
The invoice generation process is now automated and painless, and is absolutely reliable through consistent application of well-defined billing rules.
The solution also provides financial reporting and adjustment tools, including revenue analysis, aged receivables and daily transaction lists.
Due to their particular financial needs, our customer is actively looking at how they can add a few more features to dataDirector in order to completely retire their legacy financial accounting package.
