Our customer needs to facilitate Internet roaming between different wireless networks across Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines, using a single username and password. Our customer is also helping to aggregate what could be China's largest network of wireless broadband hotspots.
The business challenge was to use existing "RADIUS proxy" technology to facilitate the roaming between wireless and wired networks, and to provide financial settlement and clearing between the participating networks and customer owners.
Additional challenges centred on providing pre-paid card infrastructure that would work across the disparate member networks.
Trysoft Technologies used dataDirector to develop a customised billing solution that would support our customers continued growth and their plans to expand into China, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
Trysoft Technologies customised solution has created a Virtual Wireless Network by aggregating the physical networks of member ISPs, allowing customers of the member ISPs to roam freely across the Virtual Network. Our technology provides authentication to use the system, tracks usage, and financially reconciles this usage in end of month reports.
The solution fundamentally replaces the rapidly unmanageable "many to many" relationships, with a simple "hub and spoke" model where each participant has a single relationship with the central clearinghouse.
The system can support hundreds of thousands of users per day and will soon be used to manage services delivered to 6,500 significant wireless locations within China.
Member ISPs can offer greater geographical coverage to their customers and revenue from customers increases with their use in an expanded 'live' area.
With pre-agreed contracts defining the amount an ISP member receives from each dollar earned in roaming revenue, DataDirector technology is simplifying our customer's reconciliation task.
